Planting Seeds at Botánika

“A single ray of light from a distant star falling upon the eye of a tyrant in bygone times may have altered the course of his life, may have changed the destiny of nations, may have transformed the surface of the globe, so intricate, so inconceivably complex are the processes in Nature. In no way can we get such an overwhelming idea of the grandeur of Nature than when we consider, that in accordance with the law of the conservation of energy, throughout the Infinite, the forces are in a perfect balance, and hence the energy of a single thought may determine the motion of a universe.”

Our resort team takes to heart what the word Botánika means, which is: the study of plants. We consider it an honor to welcome our esteemed guests to one of the most untouched and biodiverse locations in the world. While we cherish and revel in the remarkable environment that envelops us, we also recognize the importance of protecting it.

Our landscaping team takes great care in maintaining the gardens and grounds at Botánika. At the resort, you will find native plants and local flora that support Costa Rica’s ecosystem. Among the vegetation here, there are plants such as Heliconia rostrata (also known as the hanging lobster claw or false bird of paradise) and Alpinia purpurata (commonly referred to as red ginger, also called ostrich plume and pink cone ginger).

Did you know that happyplanet.org has named Costa Ricans amongst the happiest people on the Earth year after year? It’s no wonder, as one of the key reasons was exceptional well-being that focuses on outdoor living and connecting with nature.

From all of us at Botánika, we wish you a Happy Earth Day! Let's celebrate and protect our planet together.
