Botánika Supports Puerto Jiménez’s Skate Park

At Botánika, we’re more than just a resort; we’re a proud part of the vibrant community of Puerto Jiménez. Our latest collaboration in supporting the town’s new skate park initiative is a testament to our commitment to fostering growth, creativity, and opportunities for the local youth.

A Community-Driven Vision
The idea of creating a skate park in Puerto Jiménez has been a dream shared by many talented and passionate individuals over the years. Leading the charge is Sam Donato, a visionary who founded the Board Riders Union to unite the community around this cause. Sam’s unwavering dedication to the project has inspired many to join forces in creating a space where both children and adults can skate, connect, and thrive.

“The Union is Awareness,” Sam shares. “It’s a realization of our amazing potential as human beings. This initiative represents our collective confidence to do whatever we want, to evolve, and to make lasting changes in the world.” His words embody the spirit of the Board Riders Union—a movement that promotes unity, positivity, and the joy of skateboarding.

Botánika’s Contribution
Botánika is proud to support this initiative, particularly through sponsoring the christening event of the new ramp. In collaboration with Elizabeth Oden and her son Dylan, we provided free skate lessons, music, food, drinks, and prizes for an exciting competition where many local kids had the chance to win their very own skateboard. Seeing the smiles on their faces as they received their boards was a powerful reminder of why community projects like this matter so much.

As Beau Williams, one of the developers of the Botánika project, recalls, “The first time I ever saw a skateboard here was about 15 years ago. The only concrete available for skating was the local bank’s sidewalk, where a few kids would gather to try tricks. Today, having our own skate ramp by the water is incredibly cool. It’s a full-circle moment for this community.”

The Journey Continues
The creation of the skate ramp is just the beginning. The project has a long way to go, with plans to expand and develop a full-fledged skate park that will serve as a hub for the community. The Board Riders Union is always looking for more people to get involved, whether through donations, volunteering, or simply spreading the word.
